Grampian Regional Transport No131, was one of ten (122-131) Alexander R-Type Leyland Olympians that came new to Grampian in July 1988.
131 was the last to enter service. These buses were designed to replace three long running rear engined double decker buses - Leyland Atlantean's, Daimlier Fleetline's and Bristol VR's. The Daimlier and Birstol maufacturers were latterly purchased by Leyalnd.
The Leyland offered a range of engines and transmission choices.
Grampian Transport took its first order of 10 Leyland Olympians in 1983 and a further ten in 1984. The final ten (including 131) entered service in 1988 which were of a longer wheel base and a higher seating capacity.
These buses enjoyed long lives with 131 being withdrawn in 2008.
These buses were replaced by new deliveries of single decker Volvo Renown's.
